WHAT IS PAIN
Pain is a danger signal. When we injure ourselves, the body sends signals to the brain informing us of tissue damage, and we feel pain.
WHAT IS NEUROPLASTIC PAIN?
About 1.5 billion people worldwide suffer from chronic pain, but many do not have to.
Recent neuroscience breakthroughs show that most chronic pain results from the brain misinterpreting safe messages from the body as if they were dangerous. In these cases pain is the result of learned neural pathways in the brain. The brain has the power to generate pain even in the absence of physical damage. This is what is known as Neuroplastic pain, and it is a false alarm.
This does not imply that the pain is imaginary. In fact, brain imaging studies have demonstrated that the pain is quite real.
Chronic pain can be learned, and it can also be unlearned.
WHAT IS PAIN REPROCESSING THERAPY?
Pain Reprocessing Therapy (PRT) is a system of psychological and somatic techniques that retrains the brain to accurately interpret and respond to signals from the body, breaking the cycle of chronic pain.
A randomized controlled trial showed 98% patient improvement and 66% becoming pain-free or nearly pain-free at the end of Pain Reprocessing treatment. These outcomes were largely maintained one year later.*
* “As long as the X-rays and MRIs do not show a tumor, infection, inflammatory condition, or fracture, and if the neurological examination is normal to rule out nerve damage, then: the presence of degenerative discs, spurs, facet problems, and bulging discs should not be interpreted to be causing pain.” (citation: Howard Schubiner, MD)
